Prime Mover by Raphael is a remarkable High Renaissance fresco created around 1509–1511 as part of the ceiling decoration of the Stanza della Segnatura in the Vatican Palace. Also associated with the philosophical idea of the “Unmoved Mover,” the composition presents a monumental figure bending dramatically over a celestial globe, surrounded by the visual language of Renaissance allegory, philosophy, astronomy, and cosmic order.
